In a recent empowering episode of our podcast, Daluz Magazine’s founder, Amanda Luz, sat down with the formidable Amelia Moore. Also known as Amelia Is Moore, she is a multifaceted entrepreneur, consultant, author, and the visionary founder of SheEO vs. CEO.

Her journey spans across leadership, healing, and business, with a dedicated mission to help women redefine how they communicate, lead, and value themselves in corporate spaces.

Amelia’s drive and fearless advocacy were instilled in her at a young age. Identifying as a “true Aquarian,” she was heavily involved in her community and school as a young girl, participating in the swim team, the track team, the yearbook committee, and the school’s television studio.

Her proud Cape Verdean heritage also played a major role in shaping her worldview. After moving from Queens, New York, to New Bedford, Massachusetts, at the age of seven, she experienced a profound culture shock that ultimately made her pride herself as a culturalist. Amelia believes that to truly understand people, you must understand their culture and way of life.

This tenacity carried into her adult life. While studying speech pathology at Boston College, she confronted a racist professor who was unfairly grading her. Rather than backing down, Amelia brought the issue to the dean, leading to the teacher losing her tenure. Experiences like these built her into a fearless warrior for what is right.

Amelia’s career eventually led her into the high-stakes entertainment industry, where she served as an A&R at Atlantic Records before becoming the General Manager of Rough Rider and President of Rough Rider Lifestyles.

During her four grueling years at Rough Rider, she often worked 20-hour days, almost six days a week. She oversaw massive projects, including a clothing line, dog food, motorcycles, and the record label.

It was during this era that she recognized a shifting attitude towards women in business and the rise of misogyny. Refusing to sit by, she found herself constantly defending her fellow women executives. This realization ultimately inspired her to write her book, CEO vs. CEO, creating a blueprint for how men truly view women in business.

In fact, Amelia proudly takes credit for creating the empowering term “SheEO” to immediately establish a woman’s authority when walking into a male-dominated room. She even redefines the derogatory “B-word” to stand for “beautiful, intelligent, talented corporate hustler”.

In her book, Amelia teaches women a powerful strategy: sifting male colleagues into four distinct categories to better navigate professional environments.

  • The Emperor: This is the man who wants to take you under his wing. However, women must watch out for the false emperor, who gets close only to discover your weaknesses and set you up for failure.
  • The Enforcer: A good enforcer gives constructive advice to help you gel better with the male team. The false enforcer, on the other hand, resents taking orders from a woman and will try to tell you what to do. Amelia advises giving this man six more difficult tasks on top of his current ones so he stops trying to micromanage you.
  • The Egghead: This individual simply does not like you because you are a woman entering the boys’ club. Amelia suggests taking control of the room by acknowledging his disdain publicly, forcing him to quantify his issues and returning the power to you.
  • The Everyday: The most important category, this man just wants to do his job and go home. If you check in with him every single day and build a rapport, he will naturally defend you when haters (like “The Egghead”) try to complain about you.

Amelia, a self-proclaimed artist at heart, continues to evolve and take on new challenges.

Currently, she is organizing open mic poetry slams in Manhattan. She is also the host of a podcast titled Sipping Something Sexy, available on Instagram and YouTube, which celebrates modern libations. The show highlights everything from health-conscious liquors and sophisticated mocktails to new elixirs featuring CBD or THC.

To officially launch this new project, Amelia and her business partner, Brooklyn Ford, are hosting a four-day celebration in Las Vegas over Memorial Day weekend. The event will feature a media day and a private meeting with Sophia Stewart, the brilliant polymath and author of The Third Eye, who famously battled Hollywood.

When asked for her final piece of advice for the Daluz Magazine audience, Amelia delivered a powerful truth:

“Do you. Be you. But more importantly, be honest with yourself.”

She urges women to eliminate the words “but” and “trying” from their vocabulary. Instead of “trying,” she encourages women to reframe their mindset to say they are “working on it,” because while you are working on it, you are actively getting it done.
