In a world that often labels people by their lowest moments, Doreen Taupau is rewriting the narrative—one life at a time.
As the founder of Boss Playa Haven, a nonprofit initiative rooted in compassion, dignity, and second chances, Taupau is not just building an organization—she is building a lifeline. Her journey is one of transformation, resilience, and unwavering belief in human potential.
A Vision Born from Lived Experience, Taupau’s mission is deeply personal.
Having experienced homelessness, addiction, and the harsh realities of life on the streets, she understands firsthand the gaps in the systems designed to help. But rather than becoming defined by her past, she chose to transform it into purpose.
“I don’t believe there are bad people,” she shares. “I believe there are good people who make bad choices.”
Leadership Rooted in Motherhood, This philosophy sits at the heart of Boss Playa Haven—a space designed not just to provide support, but to restore dignity. For Taupau, it’s about creating an environment where people feel seen, valued, and at home.
Beyond her work as a founder, Taupau is a mother of nine, with another child on the way. Her experience raising a large family has profoundly shaped her leadership style.
“Leadership isn’t just about building a brand,” she explains. “It’s about building a lifeline.”
Balancing motherhood and mission has taught her resilience, time management, and deep empathy. Rather than separating her personal and professional life, Taupau allows her lived experiences to inform her work—fueling a vision grounded in real-world needs.
Her ultimate goal? To build a legacy her children can carry forward.
Turning Pain Into Purpose, Taupau’s journey has not been easy. Like many who rise from adversity, she has faced doubt, rejection, and moments of wanting to shrink herself.
“At first, I was embarrassed about my situation,” she admits. “But I realized I was dimming my light for people who weren’t trying to help me.”
Instead of retreating, she chose to keep pushing forward—embracing every “no” as redirection rather than defeat.
That mindset now fuels both her nonprofit and her ministry, Tables Turned, which she co-founded with her husband. Together, they are living proof that transformation is possible.
“We turned our pain into triumph,” she says. “Tables can turn—you just have to be willing to work for it and keep your faith.”

Building a Future of Hope, Boss Playa Haven is still in its early stages, but the vision is bold: to address homelessness at its root by tackling the interconnected challenges of mental health and addiction.
Taupau is actively working to build partnerships and expand her reach, with the goal of creating a fully operational support system for those in need.
Her long-term vision extends beyond her own lifetime.
“I want this to be something we pass down to our kids,” she says. “A lifeline that continues for generations.”
A Message for Women in Survival Mode, For women who feel stuck, unseen, or overwhelmed by their circumstances, Taupau offers a message grounded in both truth and hope:
“Don’t ever let anyone dim your light.”
She believes that every hardship carries the seeds of transformation—and that resilience is built through adversity.
“There will always be a light at the end of the tunnel,” she says. “You just have to keep going.”
Redefining What’s Possible, Doreen Taupau’s story is not just about overcoming hardship—it’s about redefining what’s possible after it.
Through Boss Playa Haven and her ministry, she is creating spaces where healing, growth, and second chances are not just ideas—but realities.
Her journey stands as a powerful reminder: our past does not disqualify us—it prepares us.
And sometimes, the very storms that threaten to break us become the foundation for something extraordinary.
